If you are in need of help

There are times in our lives when we all need help – this page is intended to help those in need through both Prayer and the Bible.

Anxious or worried

Matthew 6 25-34
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink ; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Bereaved

1 Corinthians 15:51-57
Listen , I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

“Where O death, is your victory? Where O death is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ill or Pain

Psalm 103 :1-5
Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Needing peace

Romans 5: 1-5
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance , character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Prayers

In search of Faith
Help me Lord, to accept that I can’t possibly know everything, and to rest secure in the certainty that you are the source of all truth. Amen

When conscious of sin
Help me Lord, to recognise my faults, and the distress they bring to others. Show me the way of forgiveness that Jesus has provided through His sacrifice of Himself upon the cross. Amen

When needing comfort
You know and have made everything, Lord. Help me to be content in the sure knowledge that your will is best. Amen

Seeking guidance
Lead me Lord, into the path of your choosing, and give me patience to follow in that pathway, however great the difficulties or uncertainties that may arise. Amen

In praise of God
You are the fountain of all hope and goodness, Lord. Give me the will to share with others the blessings which in your love you have chosen to give me. Amen

Thoughts …………………………..

If there’s one good thing that I can do –
One heart that I can mend.
One tear drop I can help replace
With laughter for a friend.
One unsaid word that I can say
To take away a wrong.
One little thing that I can do
To make a weak faith strong.
If there’s a kindness I can show
However great or small.
Then my life will have some meaning
That’s what matters most of all.

A personal testimony

The Following verse was written by a member of the congregation who reached out to Jesus  and followed him – it is the story of a journey to faith.

On The Road to Emmaus
I came alone to find the way
I knew it would be right
What made me come I asked myself ?
A plan lay in my sight.
I needed a friend to trust and talk to
I needed a place to go
I needed someone who understands
and someone I could know !
The journey was enjoyable
And much thinking I have done
I have found the way
The truth and the light
My faith HE has won !!
