Bulletin – 27th May 2020

Church Bulletin

Moses came down the mountain with ten commandments, the detail of which many of God’s people have managed to grasp through the centuries. However, these laws left many questions unanswered and over time, the religious authorities updated and added to them so that by Jesus’ day there were nearly 300 additional regulations. There were so many of them that no ordinary person could be expected to have grasped them. There were only two options: to listen carefully and be obedient to everything the religious authorities said or to follow common sense and hope for the best. If this sounds familiar, you may like to meditate on the words of Psalm 1: “the righteous man meditates on His law day and night”

Sunday

Thanks to all those who joined us on Sunday morning (over a hundred it would seem). We look forward to seeing you next Sunday when we will be celebrating the great feast of Pentecost, which is often regarded as the birthday of the Church.

Thy Kingdom Come

One of the virtues of Thy Kingdom Come is that if you forget to watch a 2 minute video (a prompt to prayer) on any given day, it doesn’t take very long to catch up. The important thing is to pray!

Open Heaven

For your diaries, the churches of Coventry are planning to prayer walk every street in the city during the month of June. There are nearly 100 churches committed to making this happen. We would like St Andrews/St Andy’s to be part of ensuring that Eastern Green/Allesley Green and Tile Hill are included in this. You can download an app from the Open Heaven Coventry website and claim roads for yourself or let us know and we will claim them for you. While much of the inner city has been claimed, not much of Eastern Green has had offers of prayer. Please consider claiming your road. If you don’t live in the area, it’s perfectly acceptable to pray for where you live instead.

For your prayers

We thank God that Bryan Walker is now back at home following a fortnight’s hospital stay. We also pray for Betty Wright who has had a nasty fall and broken her hip. Pray also for the Children’s Council that meets tonight.

Birthdays

A reminder that we are pleased to hear news of people’s birthdays. Do let us know so that we can celebrate them together.

Cleaning

An elderly parishioner is looking for someone to clean for him twice a week for 1 hour and is offering £11 an hour. If you think you might be able to help with this either immediately or temporarily, please let Julie know.

Prophecy

If during the period of the corona lockdown, anyone has had pictures, bible verses or any other kind of revelation of what God might be saying to us, please let us know – even if you have no idea what it means!

Food shopping

A reminder that we are here to shop! Please don’t wait until the cupboards are bare to ask for help.   A couple of days’ notice would be helpful. Please contact Julie for assistance on 07756 918847 or administrator@standrews-eg.org.uk

Veronika has reminded us of those lovely words in Romans 8.26-27: “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
